The legendary Jeep Grand Cherokee is now available as a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV), much to the delight of eco-conscious explorers. Jeep has never wavered from its “Zero Emission Freedom” slogan, delivering on its promise to provide at least one electric vehicle in every market segment it competes in by 2025.
Now Jeep has officially announced that the most awarded SUV of all time will be available as a plug-in hybrid. Stay tuned for details about its release – expected to be early next year!

Style and Trim Levels
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe will be available in the following trim levels:
- Limited
- Trailhawk
- Overland
- Summit trims
The plug-in hybrid Jeep’s 10.1-inch digital gauge cluster will clearly display Eco Coaching pages showing the powertrain's power flow, regenerative braking, and scheduled charging.
The Trailhawk trim will feature Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires, an air suspension with boosted ground clearance, and an innovative four-wheel-drive system called Quadra-Drive II – featuring a transfer case and electronic limited-slip rear differential to keep you safe on the road.
Power and Performance
The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe utilizes the same powertrain as the rugged Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid, so you know it’s revved and ready for adventure. Plus, the plug-in hybrid Jeep achieves 57 MPGe and gets 25 miles driving range on a fully charged battery pack! It also boasts impressive towing capabilities, hauling 6,000 pounds with ease.
Pair the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors and a 14.0-kWh battery pack for a combined 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque! In addition to incredible power and performance, hybrid electric vehicle drivers will also enjoy tax credits – and the satisfaction of knowing that you’re reducing emissions!
